Cards for Maddy

Hi everyone! Hope you're enjoying your Saturday! My children and I have been busy! We read a blog post on the Simon Says Stamp blog about a sweet girl named Maddy. Maddy has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Please click here to read more about her story. Simon Says Stamp is asking for us to make Maddy some cards! We all know that a card can put a smile on our face, warm our hearts, and/or remind us that the Lord is always there even when we don't understand the circumstances. When my children heard about Maddy and her brave struggle with leukemia, they jumped in and started making her cards! I'm so touched by all the cards posted on Simon Says Stamps blog. I hope these cards give her hope and joy and lets her know we care about her and are praying for her. :) My children each chose the image and sentiment they wanted. Some colored with pencils and some with my copics. Boy! Was my 10 year old excited when I finally said she could color with my copics. :) Yes, I hide them. But it was a special day, so they got to have fun! They had full access to my scrap space. The cricut, stash of flowers, markers, you name it, they got to try them all! :) It was awesome! So here is my 16 year old's card:

Inside:
Sending Maddy a butterfly from Hobbycutz

I am so pleased with my children for pouring their hearts into these cards. I can't wait to send them off!
Please join us in sending Maddy some cards. Join here!
Be Blessed!

Stars and Stripes Lara

Hi everyone! It's Thursday, so we have a new challenge up at Delightful Challenges! With 4th of July just around the corner, our theme for you this week is

Red, White, and Blue

I had my card finished and loaded on time and then realized the theme wasn't Stars and Stripes it was Red, White, and Blue! :) I had made my stars on Lara yellow. So I had to go back and color in all my stars white! Oopsi! :) So onto my card then, I have used the cute image Stars and Stripes Lara from Digital Delights. My sentiment is the Stars and Stripes Forever Sentiment. I found these papers at Hobby Lobby. I colored Lara with my copics and added some blue and red star brads. She is adhered to the card with foam squares. I hope you join us this week in our Red, White, and Blue challenge!

Sharing a Rainy Day

Hi everyone! I have a second post this morning! At Incy Wincy Designs, we have a Bingo challenge for you! This week our two amazing sponsors are The Paper Shelter and Iva Nova Chest! Join us for a chance to win $20 at The Paper Shelter or a goodie bag from Iva Nova Chest!! For this challenge, I altered a kleenex box and used the image Sharing a Rainy Day. I used chipboard to make the shape of the kleenex box. Since my wonderful hubby works at a hospital, he is always using antibacterial lotion. So, I made a special little pocket that attaches to the kleenex box that holds a bottle of hand sanitizer! I covered it with kraft paper and DP from K&Company. I colored the image with my copics and added a frame that I cut with my cricut. I embellished with some chipboard pieces, handmade flower, pearls, metal brads, and lace. I used two different stamps for the sentiment Bless You and stamped with Brown ink. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project! I hope you will come by Incy Wincy Designs and join us in our Bingo challenge! We love to see your awesome creations! :)

Friends over the Rainbow

Good morning! This week at Incy Wincy Designs we have a Bingo challenge for you! We also have two awesome sponsors with fabulous prizes! You could win a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter or a bag of goodies from Iva Nova Chest. The Paper Shelter gave us some amazing images to work with, including some pre-colored images! I haven't used a pre-colored image yet or transferred an image onto a candle, so for this challenge I wanted to try it! I taped a piece of tissue paper onto cardstock and printed the pre-colored image. Then cut around the image and placed the tissue paper onto the candle. Using my heating tool, I heated it until it transferred onto the candle. I love this technique! So easy, yet so elegant looking! I used the image Friends over the Rainbow. I chose to frame this image and add some metal brads to each corner. Then tied some lace to the top. I hope you enjoy this project and if you haven't tried it yet, you're totally missing out on some fun! :) Please stop by and join us in our Bingo challenge this week!

Flower Power Basket of Daisies

Hi all! I'm so excited to be the Hostess Monday at Digital Delights! Here is the card I made and below is my tutorial on my favorite handmade flowers. :)

I was kind of nervous at first, but then I decided to just share something I really loved. I love making handmade flowers. So to start off you will need about 8 inches of pleated ribbon and some thread. I just weave the thread in and out of the ribbon and gently pull. As you pull, it will curl and then you can shape it how you like it. When I'm finished shaping it, I sew the edges in the middle.

And a flower is never complete without some distress ink! ;) So after sewing it, I like to add some Tea Dye Distess Ink and a cute little button in the middle. In the picture below, I have added the distress ink directly onto the ribbon from the ink pad. In the last two pictures, I have shown how to add distress ink to a piece of lace using your mat. I smeared the ink onto my mat and then using my spray bottle, misted some water onto it. I placed the lace onto the ink and ran it through. You can keep doing this over and over until you get the look you want.

I used the following images from Digital Delights
